Formal verification: verify your system's correctness

Verify your system's correctness with Cyfrin’s formal verification service. Strengthen your protocol’s security by proving or disproving the system’s behavior through mathematical proofs and the formal verification process.

Trusted by the largest organizations

Mathematical assurance: Proven security, remain compliant, and build trust.

Billions are lost each year to flaws that testing and smart contract audits alone don’t catch. Formal verification provides the highest level of assurance, mathematically proving that protocols behave as intended under all conditions.

Property definition & invariant modeling

Translate business rules and compliance requirements into mathematical guarantees that ensure protocol integrity and resilience.

Automated theorem proving & model checking

Simulate real-world attack vectors to uncover internal and external risks to your smart contracts before bad actors strike.

Threat & failure scenario simulation

Strengthen modularity, maintainability, and scalability by analyzing how protocol components interact.

Protocol architecture formalization

Establish critical behavioral guarantees that prevent violations and vulnerabilities.

Specification-to-implementation alignment

Enhance regression safety with fuzzers and additional test cases that catch edge case behaviors.

Verification reports & compliance evidence

Fulfill your regulatory and compliance responsibilities with a final report to verify your system behaves as designed.

What is formal verification?

Formal verification is a mathematical operation to evaluate the correctness of a system’s behavior. Security researchers transform your smart contract and business logic into mathematical proofs, which are then verified against a variety of scenarios like edge cases and infinite or negative values.

1
Setup timelines and onboarding
Our engineers will estimate the timeline based on codebase complexity and size and open a line of communication.
2
Rules definition
Translate business logic and security requirements into formal specifications (mathematical properties).
3
Modelling and verification
Researchers will use automated theorem provers, model checkers, or symbolic execution to confirm whether the model satisfies the required specifications. In cases where issues are uncovered, our team will issue a detailed issue report and support your team on mitigations.
4
Certification and documentation
Once complete and all issues are resolved, Cyfrin’s will issue a formal verification report demonstrating the mathematical assurance of correctness of the protocol.

Syntetika: Securing Bitcoin-DeFi Infrastructure

Syntetika selected Cyfrin to conduct a pre-launch audit based on our expertise in on-chain security, proven track record, and ability to execute under tight timelines. The engagement was structured around Syntetika's security priorities: Securing staking logic, ensuring mathematical consistency in staking price calculations to prevent frontrunning and sandwich attacks, and secure asset custody within the Minter Contract. Cyfrin's track record in on-chain security, combined with a deep understanding of complex DeFi protocols and institutional requirements, made it an ideal partner for Syntetika. The team's expertise in vault-based protocols and compliance-required security assessments aligned perfectly with Syntetika's unique architecture and focus.
